You should double after you attain your first 2 cards. If you have chosen this, you are just allotted one more card, and no more. The dealer, on the other hand, can carry on to hit and attempt to beat you.
You may take insurance right before the game starts if you see that the dealer’s showing card is an Ace. You are absolutely betting against yourself considering that you are wagering on the dealer having Blackjack. Thus if they do have Blackjack, you lose the hand but earn something for taking insurance. If they don’t have Blackjack then you lose what you gambled on insurance, but win if you maintain a better hand than the dealer. You may as well split if you are dealt a pair.
Blackjack is a game of good luck and talent. There are many betting choices and at times, as with insurance, you could win even if you lose. Understanding the rules and hints on when to hit and stand will aid you to become a capable candidate and feasibly even a winner.
